Hi, my name is Dave Scott, I am a life-long Systems Engineer with 3+ decades of experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise networking and wireless infrastructures.
My original background is Electrical Engineering (BSEE undergrad) and Computer Science (MS CS for grad school) and have worked since the mid-90s as a Systems Engineer, Programmer Analyst, Network Engineer & Network Architect. For the last 20+ years, I have been a Systems Engineer with Cisco Systems.
My background spans from small office to large campus environments, enterprise and public-sector networks, and high-density Wi-Fi deployments, with a strong focus on standards-based wireless design, RF fundamentals, and real-world operational considerations. Over the course of my career, I have worked extensively with enterprise switching, routing, and WLAN platforms, and I have a particular interest in how theoretical design principles translate into predictable performance in production environments.
This site was/is meant to serve as a technical journal and knowledge archive, sharing stories and best practices from my own real-world deployments, provide some reference material that may be useful to fellow practitioners, and as ongoing study toward advanced wireless certifications such as the CWNE.
The content here reflects my own professional experience and perspectives, shaped by years of hands-on engineering work and continuous learning in a rapidly evolving wireless landscape. The statements and opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily represent those of any vendor, employer, or organization.
